Why I'm Blogging...

Teddy's first birthday
I’ve created this blog for two reasons—the primary being that there can never be enough conversation about human children and canines living together in harmony… the second being that I really love talking about my family.  I’m an expert on nothing, but I survived the first year of parenting, and that has to count for something!

These days, when I think about my dogs, the first thing that comes to mind is how incredibly proud I am of them.  Yes, one of our dogs is a food thief who sounds like a hyena when he whines.  Yes, the other sometimes forgets she is house-trained.  Both of them monopolize bed space and couch cushions, neither of them like nail trims, or being awoken before 9 am.  But, none of that comes to mind when I think about my dogs—only pride.

This past year the dogs acclimated, with little resistance, to a crying, whining, pooping, demanding, now a moving and grabbing little human being that totally monopolized time that used to be reserved just for them.  And, they not only did it—they found a way to enjoy the new addition.

That- is worth a brag.

I have no secret recipe, give no advice, and certainly can’t say that my approach will work for every family—but I sure am excited about sharing experiences, past, present and the anticipated—on this blog!
